Menstrual health has been defined as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, in all matters relating to the menstrual process. Globally, 1.8 billion girls and women menstruate. Of this, few have access to resources enabling dignified management of their monthly cycle. The menstrual needs of women and girls are unmet due to factors such as poverty, discriminatory social norms and lack of basic services.
